alternately,im using xubuntu as other interface on my dekstop along with ubuntu 11.04 unity,it was fun,to choose what interface you are going to use before start up(log-in),window's user won't have this.
i fell in love with it,it was smooth,light,plays mkv and hd videos without any fucking probs.respect!
for linux ubuntu 11.04 user,you can install xubuntu as your alternate dekstop by using this terminal
- Install Xubuntu in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal by doing the following in Terminal.
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
- Done. Now, simply select Xubuntu session from Ubuntu GDM login window.
don't worry,you don't need to tweak on another things,the developers make the installation process easier as you just have to choose xubuntu on your log in later,there is also a link for who's interested,click ubuntu deritatives os
